Your letter of the 15th inst. has been forwarded to me.

I have been interviewing Mr. Harland. In my opinion, he seems to be the more suitable candidate.

The chief point in his favour appears to be that he has had experience as Registrar of a High Court, and that experience has been gained in a Colony where the procedure is not unlike that of Hongkong. I think that the appointment would be a suitable one.

I do not think that I could add anything to the above in an interview. Of course, I shall be happy to call should you wish to see me.

Stubbs" assuming it is the correct signature, though the original name is not verifiable. "Mess to" has been corrected to "Messrs." for being a more appropriate and formal address.
